The WMC has made a successful proposal to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) to undertake a comprehensive three- year project to address the following: Labour Market Information (LMI) issues; undertake the enhancement of occupational standards; take steps towards development of a certification regime; and to increase the effectiveness of existing WMC human resources tools. The work involved in this initiative will include four major elements or streams.  They are:

  •  Comprehensive Advanced Wood Products Manufacturing Sector Study (Labor Market Information)
  •  Update Five Original and Three New National Occupational Standards (NOS)
  •  Certification Regime for National Occupational Standards (NOS) and for WOODLINKS
  •  Updated Suite of WMC Programs and Services
